Sports Medicine
The role of equine sports medicine is to determine the soundness and health of top equine athletes whatever their discipline might be in order to enable the horse to perform at its maximum level. At Reata Equine Hospital our doctors combine their expertise with state of the art diagnostics in order to create the most effective treatment plan for returning your equine athlete to soundness.
Pre-purchase Examinations:
In addition to returning your athlete to soundness, our doctors offer pre-purchase
examinations. During the exam, the overall health of the horse is assessed and a lameness
evaluation is performed to identify existing conditions or soundness concerns that may prevent
the horse from performing its intended use. It is common for our doctors to use digital
radiography, ultrasonography and potentially endoscopy as additional tools during the
evaluation.
In-House Farrier Services:
The foundation for a successful and sound horse starts with appropriate hoof care. We are
pleased to offer in-house farrier services in conjunction with Jake Whitman, Certified
Journeyman Farrier. By combining veterinary and farrier expertise we are able to develop a
treatment plan individually suited for your horse in order for it to reach its full potential.
Internal Medicine
It can be a scary and frustrating time when your equine companion is suffering from a complex disease process or illness. Our doctors are fully equipped to diagnose and treat a variety of disorders. Services include but are not limited to:

Reproduction
Reata offers comprehensive services to help manage all
aspects of your equine reproductive needs from mare infertility to stallion
collection to delivering healthy foals.

Surgery
Reata Equine Hospital offers generalized and specialized surgical procedures. While many surgeries are performed as elective procedures, we also offer emergency surgical services. Our doctors are diligent in post-operative case management and understand the important role rehabilitation plays in your horse’s surgical success.

Chiropractics
We are pleased to offer chiropractic services as an additional tool to keep your horse healthy and comfortable. Dr. Cal Davis became certified by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in 2013.
